Day 5: Nature’s Nurture:

One of my favorite days of the creation week, the fifth day, is the day that the first living creatures were introduced on our planet. The first birds soared through the sky above and the world’s first aquatic creatures inhabited the water below. On this day our Creator gave us the gift I like to call nature’s nurture. Genesis 1:20 says “Then God said, ‘Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.” I think it is important to realize that the birds and fish were put on the earth by our Creator for our enjoyment. They also have much to teach us. All of nature “takes” from the earth only to give something back. Birds, for example, take food, water, and materials to make their nests. In turn they add to our world with their beauty, song, and by eating pests (like insects). I like to refer to this concept as the “Circle of Life & Love.” Like the creatures in nature, we should seek to be stewards of our planet, and each other, by “giving something back.” Three things we can learn from the birds and water creatures: 1) Be thankful.2) Give something back. 3) Praise your Creator!!

SUMMING IT UP:

You were created to be part of the “Circle of Life & Love.” All nature “takes” from the earth: food, water, and protection and gives something back in return. What can you give back?
